The Power of Content Silos For The Multi-Passionate Mama

Hello mompreneurs, bloggers, and content creators! Today, we are learning about a topic that is crucial to your blog’s success and will help you organize ALL THE TOPICS you love to blog about.

We are talking about content silos!!

As a multi-passionate mompreneur, I struggled to narrow down my niche. The advice often given is to niche down to one clear topic to make it easier for your audience to find you and to give yourself direction. It’s great advice! But it is really hard to follow when you love both traveling to Disney and helping mom’s find their passion after starting their families. How do you pick just one? Read here for more on choosing a niche.

I have been creating content for the past 3 years on Instagram, I launched a podcast, and started a vlog on YouTube (none of which are closely related topics). I didn’t want to give any of them up because I loved all of them, but I knew having all these different avenues to keep up with would eventually end in burn out.

Determined to find a way to connect all my passions, I have finally discovered my niche. I heard that you should be able to describe your niche and purpose of your blog in 7-8 words or less so here is mine:

Determining Your Content Silos

Once your niche is established you can pick your content silos.

It’s best if you can limit the silos to 2-3 so that you maintain a clear purpose and vision for your blog. I struggled to nail down my content silos as I have a mama podcast, a family vlog, and a passion for content creation and entrepreneurship. The silos I came up with are Content Creation and Lifestyle.

Inside your content pillars you will have multiple topics that you can write about. You can see some of my topics in my content pillars below.

How Content Silos Benefit A Multipassionate Content Creator

These silos will categorize your content into specific topics which has several benefits for your blog.

Enhanced User Experience:

Imagine visiting a blog where you can easily navigate through different topics of interest without feeling overwhelmed. That’s the magic of content silos! By structuring your content into logical categories, you make it effortless for your readers to find exactly what they’re looking for, resulting in a more satisfying user experience.

Improved SEO:

Ah, the holy grail of blogging – search engine optimization (SEO). Content silos work wonders for your SEO strategy by organizing your content in a way that search engines love. When your blog is neatly categorized into silos, it becomes easier for search engine crawlers to understand the relevance and hierarchy of your content. This can lead to higher rankings, increased visibility, and ultimately, more organic traffic to your blog.

Authority Building:

Want to establish yourself as an expert in your niche? Content silos can help you do just that. By consistently producing high-quality content within specific silos, you demonstrate your expertise and authority on those topics. This not only attracts loyal readers who trust your insights but also positions you as a go-to resource in your field.

Internal Linking Opportunities:

Content silos pave the way for strategic internal linking, which is essential for boosting your blog’s SEO and enhancing navigation. By linking related posts within the same silo, you create a network of interconnected content that keeps readers engaged and encourages them to explore more of your blog.

Streamlined Content Creation:

Let’s face it – coming up with fresh content ideas can be daunting. But with content silos, you have a roadmap for your content strategy. Each silo serves as a thematic focus area, making it easier to brainstorm topics, plan your content calendar, and maintain consistency in your blogging!

Content silos are a powerful tool that can elevate your blog to new heights. From improving user experience and SEO to establishing authority and streamlining content creation, the benefits are undeniable. So why wait?
