Daring To Verbalize Your Moonshot

"I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth.”

- John F Kennedy
United States President

In what was once history’s most outrageous speech, JFK created what is now known as a ‘moonshot’.

This seemingly impossible task was now on the table as something to work towards

This use of the term moonshot refers to an ambitious venture which is intended to show significant results.

What is your moonshot?

We’ve all heard the inspirational quote,

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

How many of us, when creating a vision for our business, shoot first for the stars, knowing they are more attainable?

I recently had to re-evaluate my way of thinking.

When it comes to business, I confine myself into a box of achievable goals. I do not allow myself to dream big and outlandish dreams.

My background is rooted in science. Objective evidence is necessary in the field of physical therapy. Outcome measures must be proven in order to receive reimbursement for services. Tangible evidence drives payment.

It is a challenge for me to think outside of my realistic box.

In all honesty, I never thought I would be in this position. To be my own boss. The only thing limiting me now, is me!

I am goal driven. So I took out a piece of paper and thought about my desires for Living Her Legacy. I wrote down several goals but the one that I was hung up on, is what I want to bring in annually.

I wrote down a number.

My first thought looking at the number is,

“No way. I will never make that on a blog, podcast, etc. I have a doctorate degree. How could I possibly make more money connecting with people through a blog, rather than hands-on in a clinic.”

I tried to challenge those thoughts. There are people on Youtube making 7 figures, talking about make-up and reviewing products.

Why can’t I do the same or better??

So I wrote down a bigger number.

And down another rabbit hole I went.

“How could YOU earn that much money? Why would people pay YOU that amount? Isn’t that a little bit greedy to even want that much money? What would you do with all that? Can’t you be content with something less than…..”

The truth is, it’s not even about the number.

How many time do we stop ourselves before we even start?

How often do we limit our opportunities, not because we’ve heard no from someone else, but because we told ourselves it is impossible.

Here is my challenge:

In your career, business, side hustle, (whatever it looks like for you) write down a huge goal…

…then shoot higher.

What is your moonshot?

I’d love for you to share in the comments below.

We are rooting for you.

Living Her Legacy,
