I read in a book recently that the American Dream has shifted from a focus on traditional success—climbing corporate ladders, a house with a white picket fence, or a stable 9-to-5—to a deeper, more personal mission. For many of us, this new dream is rooted in discovering a life of joy and purpose, fueled by our passions. And for those of us guided by faith, it means seeking God’s will as we step into our unique calling, embracing the abundant life He has for us.
Aligning God’s Purpose and Our Passion
Society has often defined success as the accumulation of achievements, status, or wealth, yet God calls us to something different: a life rich in His love and purpose. As mamas, we feel the tug to pour out everything for our families often, while sacrificing our joy. But what if God’s plan for us is to thrive in our purpose? The new American Dream for God fearing mamas is about creating a life that honors our gifts and passions—a life centered around God’s calling and His design for our abundant lives.
Letting Go of Expectations
Let’s talk about releasing ourselves from worldly expectations. The Bible reminds us that we’re not meant to conform to this world (Romans 12:2), but to seek God’s unique purpose for us. I actually read a verse this morning in Luke 16:15 ‘He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.” Maybe you once thought that success meant holding a high-ranking job or financial stability. But there’s an invitation to redefine success in light of God’s promises.
By letting God direct our paths, we’re able to pursue careers and passions that serve both our families and His kingdom.
Where is God calling you to serve? What unique gifts has He given you, and how can you use them to bring joy to your life and glory to Him?
I have struggled for a long time with feeling like I need to be achieving something in order to be viewed as valuable. I have also held myself back as a creator because I want to bring something of value to my target audience. I love things like planning Disney trips and coordinating my kids outfits. For a long time those things felt trivial. I realize now, I can choose my own path. I can align my heart to serve mamas with pelvic floor physical therapy and share my love for Disney planning.
In 2020, I was laid off from my job as a home health physical therapist. I struggled during that time listening to God’s gentle whisper. He wanted to change the trajectory of my life and He knew I would have never changed course on my own. He gracefully took me from what I felt like was the perfect job and set me up for something even better. Not only was I able to stay home with my new baby for her first 5 months but now I work from home and have the time to pursue new passions. I am now taking a leap of faith to do therapy on my terms, opening up my own space to provide mamas with the care they deserve. I feel like God has been shaping me for the past 4 years and He has patiently let me come back to this field of therapy that I love and aligning with His purpose for my life.
Using God’s Compass: Letting His Joy Guide Your Choices
Psalm 16:11 tells us that in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy. When we follow where God leads, we’re not only living out our purpose but embracing the joy He offers. When we seek God’s will for our work, it doesn’t just impact us but touches our entire family.
Prayerful Questions to Guide Your Journey:
• “Lord, what passions have You placed in me that could serve Your purpose?”
• “What talents or skills have You given me that I can use to bless others?”
• “How can my work, big or small, bring You glory?”
Let these questions be a starting point for seeking God’s wisdom as you pursue a path that’s both fulfilling and divinely inspired.
Living the New American Dream with God’s Guidance
If you feel that longing to step into something new, consider this your invitation to let God lead. The new American Dream, for us as Christian mamas, is about seeking His kingdom first, trusting that He will add everything we need (Matthew 6:33). Let joy and faith guide your journey, and know that with God at the center, you’re on a path that brings true abundance.
Let’s step forward in faith, letting His joy and purpose shape our lives.

“My love for planning and logistics started when scheduling my college courses around two jobs. As a working mama of 3 children, my passion has evolved to a necessary tool to maximize my time and efficiency.
My goal is to help busy parents seek Christ first and live the abundant life described in John 10:10. Whether it’s spending more time with their children, traveling, or starting their own business, I want to provide simple, actionable steps to provide parents more time to do what they want most, without sacrificing themselves along the way.
Don’t just leave a legacy, LIVE ONE.”
